You know how when you see the new J Crew look book you get alll excited about the different prints, stripes and sequins that are happening. I mean, LOOK YOU CAN WEAR A SWEATSHIRT WITH A SEQUIN SKIRT AND IT’S PERFECTION! I mean why aren’t we all wearing this combination? Apparently all of J Crew thinks we do. So this outfit came out of this whole J Crew crazy pattern world. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE J Crew. I love their models. I love all the J Crew blogs I read. I however just need to realize 3 patterns is a a little extreme for me.
Shoes and bag: Fossil/Shirt: J Crew/ Cardigan: Urban Outfitters/ Belt:Gap |
At this point and time I just want it over with and said screw fixing my shirts. So please forgive the pregnant look. |
However, I will never, ever be able to pull their looks off. I actually had chills when I looked in the mirror but I had to wear it anyway. I combined 3 different prints and honestly I think I feel sick knowing I had that much going on. I actually pulled out a sweatshirt for a sequined skirt and realized before I tried it on….hellz to the no. How do you ladies rock your different prints?
Also….it’s going to be 101 degrees this Sunday. WHAT THE FRICK!?!
Style Journey
Ha ha! JCrew is great for inspiration but sometimes bringing it to real life is a whole different story. Love your striped cardi paired with the gingham top 🙂

you look so nice ! xx 🙂

I drown mine in a whole lot of neutrals and solids (and chambray!!). Color scares me a little bit (and it isn't nearly as flattering as a neutral on me anyway) and patterns always feel too loud. The one pattern I could never give up is horizontal stripes, so it's no surprise I love your cardigan.
I actually think you pulled off the look very nicely and I'm not just mouthing off with insincere flattery. It's true, you actually can be a J. Crew model. Gingham and stripes complement each other well and leopard… Well, it's actually a neutral so you're only working with two patterns 🙂

I'm still a little scared of pattern mixing! I love the belt though! So cute!

I love pattern mixing as much as the next person but I think J.Crew goes over the top sometimes. But I guess that's the point. Love gingham and stripes and leopard goes with anything!

Haha! I love the J. Crew outfits and catalogs too, but sometimes I just don't see how I can apply the style to my own life. Totally impressed that you rocked three patterns in one outfit! The layers are adorable too. Pattern mixing it great, but it can be hard to master. I don't think I'll ever get it right!

Cute layering…and I am obsessed with J Crew's styling…when I get the catalogs in the mail, it is seriously dangerous!
Lisa - respect the shoes
I typically use my BF as my style gauge – he usually never says anything about what I wear, but if he gives me the side-eye or a big "what the -" in the morning, I know that I've probably done more than I should with my outfit, haha.

I promise I'm not just saying this when I say I think this all works together. Probably because the third pattern is on the shoes and I think the plaid and stripes actually work really well together. Basically, what I'm saying is, I'm a fan. Can't just be some magic button we can press that dresses us like J. Crew models every day? If only…

Your pattern mixing and color is perfection – you seriously look so chic!

I have totally been there. How they heck to they get so much layered on and still look so perfect? It's maddening. I think they must just photoshop some of those layers on or something.
I don't think this is a huge fail, and three prints are better than one anyway 🙂

lol! they have stylists to perfect it. I was trying to figure out the three prints but now i see it – the shoes. I think the key might to be have completely different patterns – like say a floral and dots or dots and stripes. but the plaid and stripes are a bit too similar maybe? I might just be blabbering!
