If you took away most of my work dresses I would fight for an animal print dress. Yes, it can go tacky if you aren’t careful but I trust that you know the difference between bad animal print and good. I’ll provide you with some options that will guide you if you don’t feel comfortable choosing your own. This dress has been an all-star since I’ve gotten it and I was able to buy it locally at Pink Saloon which makes it even better.
Ways to Wear an Animal Print Dress
My Animal Print Dress Picks
Start Simple
There’s nothing wrong with wearing a dress just how it is. Please do not fall for the trap of over styling something. Aka me and every other blogger in 2012-2014, please learn from us. If you’re not a big fan of print mixing or multiple bold things, just pair with a neutral shoe (try to match your skin-tone to lengthen your legs) and go!

Add a Belt
I’m not going to say belting everything makes it better, but I am not, not saying that. I have learned to embrace belts and they are your friend! I love this one because it’s asymmetrical and has a really great faux animal hair textures.
Note: Now that we’re adding new elements, make sure you aren’t overdoing it. Notice I change into classic pumps and took off my necklaces. There really is power in simplicity. You should wear the dress, the dress should not be wearing you.
Add an Unexpected Jacket
Oh girl, now we’re getting exciting with this. I will never stop wearing this cape and you can’t tell me anything about it. I an unstoppable in a cape and I truly think it gives me superpowers. Anyway, you can totally layer unexpected items together, just be careful that they don’t fight for attention. They all deserve their own spotlight and should compliment each other.
And so help me, please do not wear the necklaces, belt and jacket all together. 2014 me might say do it but please, please, do not. That is the opposite of a style tip and I love you too much to steer you wrong.
I will always STAN this combination because it never fails to make me feel confident and powerful. My coworkers know when I’m wearing something like this I’m a woman on a mission. Not even kidding when I say I’ve worn this cape in a Vegas club and also to an executive presentation. So like, it’s been around for a while. (You can also see it here.)
Make It Work For All Day, Every Day
There’s some exceptions, but typically when I buy an item I make sure it easily pulls double duty. I love that a denim jacket can work really well with the first few options I showed you how to style. This entire outfit to me is practical. It’s still got some heel, but it’s lower and thicker. The jacket makes it casual and quite frankly, you can catch me outside running errands in this and then dropping by a happy hour. I love outfits that only require me to dress once for the day.
My Denim Jacket Picks
Alright, now that you have 5 ways to wear an animal print dress, I want to see you wear it! The best thing about a print like this is it’s always in style and you can easily find it in vintage or thrift it! You can almost always count on some sort of animal print being in style (right now an animal print midi skirt is HOT for this fall) so it’s a great item to have and make it work all year round.

I love it with the belt! And so true, one of my favorite things about dresses is you don’t really have to do much to them. Add one or two accessories or extra pieces and you’re off!

I love all these different options! The denim jacket option is the most “me,” but I absolutely love the power look with a cape and heels. SO good.

All of these are so cute! I love how versatile a dress is, and even better when it’s in a fun leopard print. It will never go out of style.
