Remember when we thought we’d have fall TV? Lol. That was funny. We all know summer TV is the WORST and well, 2020 is basically all summer TV all the time. But never fear! Instead of binging your favorite shows all over again (Not that there is any shame in that), today I’m bringing you new ideas about what to watch!
Also, the image in today’s post is the palmoa my incredible friend Madison makes! I live for a spicy rim salt and she uses Tajin and I lick that up so fast it’s embarrassing. (Almost as embarrassing as typing out that sentence and hitting publish.)
Chef’s Table: BBQ
Have you ever cried over a documentary of people’s life work? If not, I welcome you to celebrate the incredible stories of food going beyond food. It’s so much more and Chef’s Table will make even the hardest of hearts feel some tugging. Come for the BBQ, stay for the humanity, love and story of relationships and healing (and some wounds).
People in Kansas are known for their drives across the country for BBQ. I used to think it was insane but I could go for a very long drive right now to try any of these places. Or Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum. Please stay home so we can someday eat BBQ together.
Love, Guaranteed
Love, Guaranteed is exactly the formulaic set-up, rom-com you mind can handle right now. No heartbreak, really no twists. It ends how you know it’s going to. Normally I would hate this, but some Pad Thai and a glass of wine with Eleanor and it’s great for staying in. It’s vanilla and acceptable.
Also anytime Coach (from New Girl) shows up in a movie I want to support him. I feel like he’s a little underrated. I don’t think he actually needs my support but it makes me feel like somehow he knows I’m rooting for him.
Catch Up On Good Girls
I love Good Girls. You can re-binge seasons 1-2 on Netflix and season 3 on the NBC app. When COVID first hit the only TV show I realized I would miss is Good Girls. I need more Beth and Manny chemistry. I need to know what insane thing they are going to get into next. I JUST WANT MORE OF IT. The seasons go by entirely too fast.
Due Date
I completely forgot about this movie’s existence. My college boyfriend and I saw it in the theater and it was the first time I ever saw Robert Downey Jr. OR Zach Galifianakis. It’s a feel-good movie that does make you laugh Pairs well with stretchy pants, a box of candy and the AC turned down low. Also excellent for easy watching in bed.
Episodes
Did you know Matt LeBlanc did an actually funny British show (set in Hollywood) that like, was good? Get through the first few episodes and suddenly you realize you’re in. The series is short enough they don’t stretch it out. You get some action from terrible people with some genuinely funny moments.
Baby Mama
I have loved this movie since college. It’s a baby Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and I love them. So much. There’s a whole cast of characters who were up and coming which is a real delight as well. It’s an easy watch and sure to put a smile on your face. (I referenced the sink scene, IYKYK the other day when I was asking my friend to please not baby-proof her toilet so I can still use it.)
Have you watched any of these? If you have, let me know what you think! If you haven’t, send me a DM on Instagram and tell me if you agreed with me. I am also taking recommendations on what I should share so let me know what people should be watching.
Meg @ Closet Fashionista
I need to catch up on Chef’s Table, I started watching months ago and then got distracted by my TCM watchlist, haha.
And weird, the only reason I watched Due Date was because RDJ was in it, haha! I think Iron Man was the first thing I saw him in, either that or one of his 80s movies.
