It is a constant struggle to not look like I’m a young college grad with no money (hi, this is still my life) but also not dressing like a 40 year old mom at work. Somehow the clothing industry has decided that its an either or situation. Because of this, I have been working super hard to find office-appropriate, fun statement pieces. There are worse problems in life I know, but this has not been easy. I’m very lucky that my office is business casual half the time and the other half is business formal (example here). It gives me a lot of wiggle room for playing around with my style.
One thing that has been my go-to these last few months have been ruffles and dramatic hemlines. Even in a formal business setting, somehow I can get away with those two elements and bring down the business suit about 20 years. (However, if I could get the salary of a 40 year old, sign me up for boring business suits! If only life worked like that.) Sooooo. The stage is set. Meet the butt-defining, make-a-statement, Maggy London Dress that pretty much has a money-guarantee to get you 30 compliments each time you wear it. Okay, you may not get 30, but I got 10 the first time I worked this dress.

I got this in a 12 petite. I highly recommend sizing up in this dress if you are busty, but girl, your butt is going to look so good.

Also, I’m pretty sure this dress works for garden parties, if that’s your deal. I live in Kansas so they are not a thing, but if you invited me to one I would definitely show up in this. And twirl. And talk about how comfortable it is. Because that is a young professionals life.
P.S. I really don’t want to say too much about my butt but come on, you all need this dress because your butt is going to look so good. That is all.

I recently started following your blog, and this post about sums up why I do. Very useful posts about serious things, tongue in cheek humour, a body type I can identify with (I am a USA size 8 in the bust, size 6 in the waist and size 10 in the hips), great trend sense, and inspiring photos.
I struggle to look my age clothing wise . I am 37 yo and between looking about 25-27 yo (do people mostly guess) and having mostly worn kindergarten-teacher-clothes (which I am not) actually looking my age and looking “professional” is a work in progress. I think I have a pattern for a dress like this.
