My friends always joke about what I really mean when I say “just wear anything.” They have learned that even if it’s right after the gym and I say that I look like poo I usually have an emergency backup outfit in my trunk that is pre-planned for such times. So they show up in their college t-shirts and look at me like I’m from another planet because my version of “just showing up” is jeweled shorts, a fedora, button down and espadrilles.
Shirt: Joe Fresh (sold out)
Shorts: J. Crew Factory (exact)
Belt: Gap (sold out)
Shoes: Target (exact)
Hat: Forever 21 (exact) (exact in black)
Bag: Kate Spade (sold out)
Nail Color: Mint Candy Apple (exact)
To each their own. They have just learned that although I say it’s super casual, I still will take 30 minutes to plan an entire outfit. I think I get this from my mom who would rather wake up an hour early to get dressed and have perfect hair and makeup JUST to meet the bus driver who is picking up my brother. Except there are those days where even putting on a shirt with some shorts take a ton of effort and I could win an award for worst dressed. On those days I just run into Target praying no one I know sees me, especially people who know I have a blog.

Alissa, my stylish blogger friend you look fabulous. I love this look from head to toes. I think this is so Fashion Blogger. White shirt is such a fabulous, timeless and versatile piece to have. I'm always on a hunt for new white shirt.

Haha I find myself more like this now too. Even casual looks now mean some extra thought to styling. Love this look, the fedora looks great on you!

you look so cute though!! the good thing about being in a big city is that i never seen anyone. except for my cousin. i run into him everywhere here!
Laura B
Love that fedora! And I feel the same way about my late night trips to target-please don't let anyone see me! 😉 Having a cute outfit in your trunk is actually a really good idea though!

You look so cute with your hat, I can never find one I look good in.

Wait, those shorts are so so cute! I wish I could say I'm always as pulled together as you, but I've been known to live in gym clothes on the weekends!
Rachel
You are a model! Seriously teach me your ways of posing and not looking like a crazy girl like me haha
Ginny MyNewFavoriteOutfit
Yep, my casual is definitely a little different that some peoples. Luckily I've got a lot of friends who are pretty stylish. I've learned the only place I really need to play down my casual look is the park. I look like a crazy person if I wear my version of casual there. You look great here and I love your shoes.
Lauren {Fizz and Frosting}
Yea, I'm pretty sure many of my friends think I'm crazy since I put a good amount of time into my appearance. The only time you're likely to see me "dressed down" is right before or after working out!
Maggie
I love your bejeweled shorts and that fedora!! I am the same way – even if I am going casual, I will still plan my outfit. I always say it takes the same amount of time to put on sweatpants as it does a cute outfit 🙂

Your outfits have been so spot on lately!.. not that they aren't always, but I just love love love this

I'm the exact same way! I'm pretty sure I'm the only one in my group of girlfriends that spends 45 minutes doing her makeup and picking out an outfit just for a casual lunch or dinner date. Typical.

LOVE this casual outfit! And what a good idea keeping an emergency outfit at all times!

You are so cute and funny and real. I love the Alissa way. I am kind of the same way, even more so before I had Vivian. My idea of showing up in a casual outfit was way dressier and more spiffy than most. But a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. I adore the cutoff shorts and that adorable hat. =) Rocking it girl (when don't you ever?!)
LyddieGal
Yup. Yup. Yup.
There is causal, and then there is casual.
It's all about having nicer pieces at your disposal. I think that is what I learned from watching what not to wear for all those years.

You have a back-up outfit?! I love that about you.
This is classic summer right here, and I'm digging the way you're working that hat like a pro.
Side note: your comment on my Real Blogger Beauty post was SO sweet. Love you, you da best.

this post is so, so true for me too. my "casual" and everyone else's casual tend to be a few levels different. i just don't own that many tee shirts or ratty pairs of shorts, so even my "slubby" looks are pulled together. unless i'm in my pjs that is. i've tried to do cute pjs, but i end up being more comfy in my guy's plaid pj pants and an old sweatshirt.
i might have to DIY some shorts like that…

This doesn't have much to do with this post, but I thought you should know that yours has become one of the blogs that I get excited to see a post from in my Bloglovin' newsfeed. I do love your style, but I enjoy your writing more than any other blog I follow – I love getting to hear about your life and you, and getting to feel like I know you.
So anyway. Yeah. Cute outfit.

You look great! Having a spare change of clothes and accessories handy is a great idea – my sister has a big bag in her car for this as she is always finding out about a party or evening out and can get changed and ready after work without having to go home first 🙂

Ummm I think your idea of "Just wear anything" and my idea of "Just wear anything" are the same. Although I do not have a back up outfit in my trunk (yet). Love this "super casual" look. Adorable, you know, in a "I took 30 minutes to plan it" kind of way 🙂

I definitely have spent 30 minutes putting together an outfit that I would describe as "thrown together". ha. I also know what you mean by not wanting to be seen in Target. I once ran into one of my students there, we kind of looked at each other in horror and both ran in opposite directions.

i am absolutely NEVER as well dressed as you . but i do have the same 'wear anything' problem that i tell my friends, and they are always horrified to find themselves under-dressed even for something casual.

I love the length of these shorts! And those espadrilles – love love love!!

Haha, yep, I totally understand what you mean by being much more put together than your friends. I was one of those weirdies that never went to class in sweats in college, ha. And nowadays, when my best friend and I get together, she always remarks that I look so put together while she looks like a soccer mom in her workout gear and baseball cap, haha! I think everyone has their own idea of what comfort is, though, and that's okay 🙂
