There’s no faster way for me to lose respect or cut off a relationship than seeing what they post on Facebook. The only way I’ve managed to stay connected to some family is hitting the unfollow button or just straight up unfriend them and tell them they can text me if they need to talk. I hate Facebook. I truly think it is evil. Whatever good it has created is far outweighed by the damage it has done. I know many other people love it but it is not for me. However, I acknowledge there is a need for it and sometimes you have to operate in that space while gritting your teeth. Today I’m going to show you two ways to remove your Facebook news feed so you can maintain some mental sanity.
Ways to Remove Facebook News Feed
Way #1 – Tailored By You
If you want to have more control over who you see Facebook makes this semi easy. You’ll go to Settings > News Feed Preferences. From here you can manually unfollow. It’s broken into three groups: Friends, Groups and Pages.
With this setting you can remove your Facebook newsfeed or greatly tailor it to be only the content you truly want. This method is a little bit more time-intensive but allows you to curate and control.
Way #2 – Completely Remove Facebook News Feed
Ready to completely take the plunge? There’s a Chrome extension that completely removes your feed! News Feed Eradicator for Facebook. This one is great too because it’s focused on helping you stay productive. You can temporarily show your newsfeed or have more flexibility with what you want your newsfeed to look like. (Within the traditional Facebook constraints.) You can enter a custom quote or reminder in place of your newsfeed.
For me I want be able to see the social media clients I support so I have some custom settings but that’s really all I want to see! This extension made it easy to stop doom-scrolling, especially late at night.
While I do benefit from social media (I offer social marketing service), it’s very hard to stay in a great mindset currently. I hope you have found this helpful. Let me know if there’s another way and I’ll be happy to update. Please enjoy your much-happier Facebook news feed and remember to try to take a break from digital life and live your real life.
