Dear Alissa,
You started blogging as a way to remember the ups and downs of college. You wanted a way to document the joy and tears. You need to remember that you are almost done. You have supported yourself, paid for school yourself without help. You need to remember that you always freak out, calm down and then find a way to deal with all the crap that life gives you. College isn’t just about learning how to write, critically think and all that. It’s about learning who you are and how you deal with things.
You need to remember that as much as you try and plan things out, organize your life, create spreadsheets and all that, stuff is still going to come at you that you have no control over. And that is OK. It’s OK to have some unknowns. You cannot control everything. You cannot control how your teachers grade or whether or not you have a job.
It’s OK to admit that you don’t know everything. That you haven’t figured out what you are going to do with your life and that you really just want to eat a gallon of ice cream when you think about growing up. (We won’t discuss the amount of sour gummy worms I have eaten during college to cope.) Just be OK. You aren’t the only 22 year old that doesn’t know what is going to happen.
Just be OK. Just freaking relax and be OK with some unknowns. They’re going to teach you something, don’t try and ignore the lesson.
Sincerely,
22 year old self
Nina Piccini
I'm also a super control freak – sometimes you just have to let go a little! I do LOVE how you layered this eyelet dress and belted that scarf!! SO adorbs.

You look so cute! I love the shirt under the dress and the added scarf is just gorgeous. There's a song by Jessie J and in it she says "it's ok not to be ok". One of my favorite lines from a song. π

Love this look! And you! You are so strong and so wonderful – and so right! It is okay not to be okay, especially when you're 22. I think, at 27, I need to remember this sometimes too!

I love the gingham with this dress, so pretty! I'd write a lot of letter to my 22 year old self if I could. I'm sure you're are going to accomplish great things and you will be definitely be ok. : )

Yay for being almost done! I didn't finish until I was 26 or something. You are on the right track. And most certainly on the right track with this look because I loooooove it.

I don't think you are totally lost, I mean, you are in school, and you know you want to be there. You are studying something which will hopefully land you a great job, even if you aren't sure what that job is. You are independent, and driven. Maybe you feel a little lost at times, but you certainly don't show it.
And I kind of love this layering. I need a little white dress!!

I too have issues with being okay with not being okay. Sometimes it's tough not to want to control everything! However, I've realized that trying to do that just adds more stress and takes away a bit of your happiness.
PS: You did a fabulous job layering this outfit! And to think I helped you spot that dress in XXI makes me happy too π You look absolutely gorgeous in it!!

Oh yes, the control. After school you pretty much give up all control. Well, that's not entire true. But it was really easy to succeed and be rewarded in school As soon as it's over, you make your own life. It's fun and scary at the same time. Don't worry, I'm turning 24 and still don't know what I want to do. I've just accepted that I'll probably end up with multiple careers and will take what comes at me. It's the only way I can feel "okay" about giving up that control. But back to the clothes – I love the layering in this outfit!
