If you’re a fan of The Adored Life on Facebook, you probably have already seen this shirt. The shirt was created in celebration of Tulip’s, in Kansas City, Facebook page hitting 1,000 likes. I remember that Robin talked about wanting something that was really special. We had played around with a few cute sayings but then I hadn’t heard about it. Then the shirt was sent to me. I opened it and wondered if maybe Robin, the store owner, knew that I needed some pushing.
I talked about really going for it a few weeks ago. One of my favorite things about having a birthday in January is that I’m always in a reflective mood when I turn another year old. I’m able to compare the year and also my age at the same time. This year I’m in a very motivated place in life. The saying, “Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great” really has stood out to me as I’ve slowly started becoming the girl who goes for it and turns into “a girl who decided to go for it.”
It’s scary stuff to say what you want. It’s scary to let people see who you really are, what your hopes and dreams are. It’s scary to truly go for something that is only a vision you have, a feeling you can’t ignore despite logic that says otherwise, no actual idea of how to put it together, how long it will take, but you just know it’s what you have to go for. Even if going for it is just being a little big bolder, taking a few more chances, having the nerve to speak to a few strangers, you just have to go for it.
However, in the end, I don’t think that anyone ever looks back and thinks, “I wish I wouldn’t have taken that chance.” I think that they look back and say whether it was good or bad and regardless, choose to learn the good from either situation. You just go for it, believe in yourself, adapt and then learn the good and bad.
P.S. To those of you who voted for me in the Tulip Twist contest, thank you! I won and was completely touched by those of you who took the time out of your day to vote for me. I’ll be showing you what I pick out with the gift card, soon.

very cute tee! I am all about the plaid and graphic tee combo (yay for my job where I can totally where that everyday if I want) but I never thought about putting the tee over the plaid (this is why style is not my strong suit). so I will have to try that look!

Absolutely agree! I usually try to never look back. Whatever happened happened, fuck it, moving on now.
I'm curious what is your vision that you so hearty desire? 🙂
Loving the top, it's one of a kind and love how you styled it with the plaid ^_^

I love that top!! I'm right there with you on the "just go for it!" attitude – I spent a lot of 2014 feeling scared or too embarrassed to talk about what I really wanted and what my true goals are. Being more upfront about what my goals and plans are, however unrealistic they may seem, has actually helped me take more steps forward, and more opportunities have come my way!

Cute layering and I absolutely LOVE this hat! And I completely agree about having a January birthday – it is like a fresh start with New Year's and I am very reflective every time I turn a year older!

It's so true. You never look back and think "yeah that was totally a good thing that I didn't take that chance." Even if it turns out badly, you always learn so much. I'm not against learning from others, but when you're faced with an opportunity, taking it is usually so much more satisfying.

I love this post! "Going for it" is my theme for 2015.

You go for it, girl! You're right that sometimes the hardest thing is to actually say what we want. You're doing awesome, though! Keep being the beautiful (inside and out) girl that you are:)

One of the designers at work had a similar saying "Good is the enemy of great" and I'd never though about it before he said that, but it is so true that we often settle for good enough. I love the saying on your shirt and look forward to following along as you go for it this year!
