I’m semi-kidding about the whole get someone a cookbook-so-you-can-eat-their-food but also, not really. I normally don’t do gift guides, especially a cookbook gift guide, but honestly? I really, really love cookbooks. I love that you all also nerd out a little bit with me about baking! Every time I tweet about baking multiple things happen: a) you all demand I ship it to you b) you tell me you are also baking and c) you like my tweets. And we all know that if you like my tweets it means you love me. Or something like that.
So here’s my cookbook gift guide!
I love cookbooks, including the feeling of the pages as I turn them. Reading a cookbook gift guide blog post even makes me happy. I love that I can use cookbooks that my grandmother’s used, my mom used and now I can use. People who are on Top Chef and actually know what they are doing, firmly believe that food unites generations and recipes is a literal passing of something from generation to generation. In fact, I love seeing the stains on recipes that have been loved and I made when I was learning to bake!
Cookbooks:
Sugar Rush // Cravings // Huckleberry
I am so happy that cookbooks are coming back! You can use an iPad all day long, if that’s your jam. However, there is nothing like having an actual book to read and make notes in. Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook has been one of my favorite purchases this year! The food is all delicious, her commentary is like her Twitter coming to life and also she somehow makes me want to workout and also put chicken wings on my hips by a pool. (That sentence makes more sense if you have read the book)
(Also that photo is as close as I am ever going to get to being next to her so I’ll take it.)
Cookbook Gift Guide:

Winter just makes me want to bake allll the things! Soups! Cookies! It’s no wonder that pretty much everything on my wishlist this year for Christmas and my birthday are related to the kitchen. There’s something about the miserable weather forcing me to stay inside my home instead of being out and about makes me feel like I can take on any culinary challenge. That and again, I have been binging all the season to Top-Chef, even seasons I’ve seen before.
Also, did you know that aprons could be so darn cute? AND THE MATCHING OVEN MITTS?! I have a feeling that these are going to end up in my own kitchen right after Christmas.

I have cravings and love it as well, such a great cookbook.

Yaaas I LOVE cookbooks. My mother-in-law gets me a new one almost every year for Christmas, so I have a pretty good collection. I just received The Happy Cook by Daphne Oz, and it looks delicious. I also love Chrissy’s book – so fun and SO good!

So much to comment on! I didn’t realize she had a cookbook — can’t decide my thoughts on her — but curious to read up on this more! I have to put a halt to the cookbook buying because I’m getting them but then not cooking, lol!

I also love reading cookbooks! Like, snuggle up with a glass of wine and read it from cover to cover. I even started a cookbook club amongst my friends. It’s like normal book club, but with better food. How do I not have Cravings yet? Chrissy Teigen is incredible. It’s going on my amazon wish list right meow.
Love the holiday look here! Green is your color!

Those shoes!!! LOVEEEEEE! I’m not a baker at all. One because I suck at baking. And two because the oven at my apartment has been broken for years. Oops.

That dress. Those heels. Who knew Target had so much class? I love Target, in fact I’ve been ordering clothes on line from them for a while now. You look so beautiful sweetie. As for baking, bring it on. By that I mean, you cook and mail it to me. Right? You have the books! I made batches and batches of homemade fudge this year as gifts. ugh Been eating it as well. Isn’t that what we do during the holidays? yup….off to order Sugar Rush, sounds like my kind of book! luv ya beautiful girl

This is a great idea and I loved all your reasons behind it. Nothing like recipes and cookbooks that have been passed down from generation to generation. Hope all your holiday season was bright and merry and this year is wonderful. When is your birthday Alissa?
