Uh, so October kind of flew by, right? October always does that for me, but adding in getting engaged put it on x50 faster! October is always my favorite month of the year and this year definitely didn’t disappoint.
Here are some behind the scenes photos of my ring and a sneak of what we did in Nashville!
Wedding Stuff
I wasn’t going to start wedding planning until January 1st, but instead of getting married in 2020 like I wanted, we are now looking at 2019! Yes, that kind of changes a lot. No, it’s not because I’m pregnant. Ken has been so incredible but every single answer to any question has been, “I don’t care as long as I get to marry you in 2019.” So with answers like that, how can I not try to make this happen?
I’ve always loved the Mrs. Box because you know, before I was on a wedding budget I thought that was a reasonable price. Now I am actually engaged and LOL to that price. Here is a great, similar box and about 3/4 the price.
Right now I am working my bridesmaid gifts. I’m putting together gift boxes with items they can use post-wedding. Since we aren’t paying for their dresses, I wanted to make sure they didn’t have to worry about their jewelry so they will be getting that from me. More on how what I’m putting into their kits coming soon! But right now I am currently loving these cards that are cute ways to ask them! (Pst, if you aren’t a DIY-er, these boxes are PERFECT for you!)
My friend Jessica told me I had to get a bling brush since now I’m engaged and I do like it! Definitely great for quick cleanings of your ring, especially when you know there are going to be photos taken of your ring. Your newly engaged friends will love this small but thoughtful gift.
I Met Montel Williams
Before I went to Nashville to get engaged, I was on set for the TV show Military Makeover. I was scheduled to do an on-air interview, but since I was on set I ended up painting and helping out. The crew was concerned about me wearing a dress so they gave me this very fashionable shirt to protect my dress. I’m not sure when it’s going to air yet, but it will be on the Lifetime network this fall. I truly could have totally peaked at 27.
Beauty & Style
I am proud to say that I did very minimal shopping this month. It wasn’t intentional but pretty much after the engagement things kicked into high gear and I haven’t found myself browsing. I’m realizing that my “browsing” was actually causing so many of my impulse purchases. Nipped that in the bud! All of my money is going towards purchasing a wedding dress right now.
If I was to shop though, I would be purchasing every one of the long-sleeved Gal Meets Glam dresses right now. In fact, I’ve got two in my Nordstrom shopping cart that I want. My top picks are these: I have nothing like this and it’s just gorgeous, these amazing shoulders and I kind of want this as an engagement party dress.
This month I talked about what my favorite Amazon beauty purchases are which I think are worth taking a look at! I ordered a couple of refills off this list so I really, really, really do use this stuff! Definitely check out the eye masks, they are worth the price! Totally in the “love” category of my life right now.
Exhibit A – Plane glamour in action
I did purchase this overnight lip mask. Unfortunately in the fall my lips crack overnight and it takes so much work to get them back to normal shape. Lanegie did the trick for keeping them moisturized overnight on my work trips.
My Rent the Runway package was either stolen or misdelivered by Fedex. I was really gearing up for a big fight with them, but they have been awesome. There’s no resolution on it right now unfortunately. However, I’m staying in contact with them to ensure I don’t incur charges. So total props to them for replacing the items quickly and being awesome. This is always worth my monthly fee! (You can read my review here)
Meet and Greet
I’m going to be partnering with Gordmans for a very cool pop-up here in Wichita! ThredUp has selected cities to hold pop-up events in-store with Gordmans. Like I mention above, budget is a HUGE thing for me right now so it’s perfect timing. We all know there is a little truth to retail therapy and I haven’t gotten any this month. Follow along on Instagram or come by and see me on Thursday, November 1st. More details to come.
So Basically…
I wish this month wasn’t ending! It’s just the absolute best to be able to keep telling people about the engagement. I told Ken I kind of wish I knew more people so I could keep this going! Truly this is one of the best times of my life and I am so excited to keep sharing about it. Thank you all so much for your kind words and support!
