To be honest, I wore this outfit a LOT this month. And also in February. This dress is my favorite Rebecca Taylor dress that I got for a steal (here’s how) and the jacket is a Rebecca Taylor jacket Ken surprised me with! I have absolutely no shame in how often I wear it. It makes me happy, confident and is extremely comfortable. However, one of the most embarrassing stories I’ve had in a few years also happened in this exact outfit.
The Dress Incident
It was a very normal day. I was traveling from Wichita to McAllen, Texas for work. Wichita was 12 degrees and McAllen was about 80. I was wearing my favorite outfit AND favorite tights (thank heaven, I LOVE those shorts in them). Now this dress is so soft and silky but sometimes because it’s so light, it flies up a little. Every time I get on a plan and sit or stand I always do a quick once-over with my hand to make sure everything is good back there.
So I did my usual once-over, confident and boldly strode through an international airport. I mean I felt great. What a beautiful day to be me. No breeze to be felt. Nothing. Until I got out of the airport and to my horror, realized that somehow my dress was completely up on one side. Like COMPLETELY. I had to basically pull my dress out of my tights I don’t even know how it was possible to get where it was! And I had NO signs. No breeze. NOTHING.
Anyway, despite all of that, I still love this outfit, but I’m just like 10,000x more paranoid about it. So ladies, check your butts as thoroughly as possible and avoid pulling an Alissa.
Style & Beauty
I have LOVED this dress so much and I actually rented almost an identical version. I found a brand new one on Poshmark and got it this month on super sale. It’s probably one of my most unique pieces that isn’t *too* much for like a Tuesday afternoon corporate meeting. It also comes in a sweet top version. I know I am a Rebecca Taylor evangelist but they have some of the best silhouettes that are so pretty on anyone, but especially anyone with hips and a waist they want to show off. (P.S. They have a super darling summer version.)
Old Navy has already some ADORABLE summer dresses that are super cheap and I bought in multiple color/prints. This dress is cute off-the-shoulder and worn as straps and this dress has been my summer go-to for two years now.
You all know how I feel about Madewell bags and what a solid investment they are, but they don’t have zippers. That was, until now. They came out with zip-top totes that immediately shot up to the top of my wish list. (Ahem, new monogram anyone? Don’t mind if I do!)
My skincare was pretty boring this month as I am trying to really finish off everything I currently have! The only thing that I re-purchased are these eye masks because I didn’t want to spring for the Wander under eye ones. My eyes are hydrated for sure, but they don’t feel as wonderful as when I use the Wander ones.
Faster Way to Fat Loss
So I feel weird about talking about this, but I am doing this program right now. To be honest I’m a little turned off by how blogger-ish it feels but I will admit that I like the program so far. Pearls & Twirls is the original person who introduced us all to it years ago and then I’ve been following along ever since.
My goal is to just feel overall better before the wedding so I am hoping to do 2-3 rounds of it in the upcoming months. The biggest hurdle? A ton of prep, but I do enjoy the planning and when I am on top of my game, I love knowing I don’t even have to think about what I’m eating.
If you travel a lot like me, it’s a little bit harder, but just requires some research and creative juggling of things. I’m on week 3 have traveled that slightly derailed me so I’m trying to be extra on my game to truly give the program a chance to see if it worked. The only thing that I am worried about is that I will be in Panama when we are doing a 24 hour fast and doing a lot of physical labor for an event trip.
Wedding
Speaking of the wedding, the florals were nailed down this month! My mom is going to be my florist and I am very excited to get to show you the amazing talent she has. What I love about this is that we are buying flowers directly wholesale which is allow me to have a LOT more flowers than I wold get if I was hiring it done. I also get to pick out every single flower that I am going to have at the wedding which is super fun!
I did get my wedding rehearsal dress! I am SO excited about this dress! I don’t know if it could be more on-brand for me. Right now it’s a little snug but it was the last of my size so I’m working hard to make sure I’m comfortable in it. I also realllyyyyyy want these shoes for the rehearsal/reception!
I am already having nightmares about people not RSVP’ing as I see friends on Facebook begging for people to RSVP. Couples pay for postage and yet people still can’t be bothered? Please, please, please don’t be those people! You truly won’t have a seat at our wedding if you don’t! It boggles my mind.
Mental Health
I’m happy to say that right now I am in a really good place. The first two months of the year were really rough. March wasn’t perfect, but I’m getting some things taken care of. There’s some changes taking place that I can’t talk about yet, but I think they will really be what helps me restore a lot of what I feel I’ve lost. Again, if you are feeling like I have been, please remember that there is no shame in seeking help. Yes, sometimes it’s a pain with all the paperwork and there’s a level of intimidation but you are worth it!
A Couple of Random Things
If you have a chance to see Matt Bellasi in person, GO! He is hilarious and totally worth the price of the very cheap ticket. Kara and I went together to see him and we about cried laughing.
I went ALL-in on Schitt’s Creek in March. Wow. Like, I can’t even with how much I identify as an Alexis/Moira and David hybrid which honestly kind of perfectly describes me.
I am so thankful that spring is here. I honestly don’t mind winter but I need the energy boost that spring gives to us that experience a hard winter. This weekend I get to plant and make the house look happy again!

As always, thanks for your honesty about mental health! As you know, March was a tough month for me with my grandma passing so I still feel like I’m coming out of this weird fog. Hopefully the spring weather will help boost my spirits. So exciting about all the wedding planning – I think it’s so special that your mom is doing the flowers!
Just sayin’,

You had such a productive March….minus the dress incident 😉 (A HUGE FEAR OF MINE!!! lol).
I kinda want to try the Wander eye masks, so you think they’re worth it??…I still LOVE the Dr. Jart sheet masks you introduced me to!
